Charity Dog Wash - Huge Success

Our Annual Charity Dog Wash was held Sunday August 28th, 2011. The proceeds of this dog wash will be going to the the Veterinarians Without Borders and their World Rabies Day fundraising campaign.

We were extremely busy......but had a lot of fun....Take a look at this photo album to see some of the fun.

We had many wonderful visitors who came by to support this very worthy cause....and we would like to thank each and every one of them.

Also...a big thank you to all of our suppliers who donated many amazing prizes that helped to make the day a huge success.

The Final Tally is not in yet, but it looks like we made over $1000 to help support Veterinarians Without Borders.

Here's a story....of 3 lovely ladies....

Let us introduce you to 3 beautiful little girls who are looking for their 'forever homes'.

Marcia, Jan and Cindy....They are 3 ladies who's mother was abandoned at a farm and were brought to Royal City Animal Hospital by a very caring staff member. They had 3 brothers (Greg, Peter and Bobby) who all found good homes. These ladies would like their chance to show someone how cute and adorable they are and what wonderful companions they would make.

Take a peek at this video if you want your heart to melt......

Cindy: born April 25, 2011. She is "the tiny terror". She may be small but stay out of her way when the food bowl gets filled.

Jan: Born April 11, 2011: "the playful one". If you leave it around, she will play with it.

Marcia: Born: April 18, 2011. "The Social Butterfly". She has no fear, she will even run up to a dog and say "Hi, wanna snuggle?"
To inquire about adopting one of these girls....contact Martha at 519-763-4992 or send her an email: rcahclients@rogers.com

Our local shelter has an abundance of great animals that are looking for someone to love them and provide them with a good home where they can be properly cared for.

Why not stop on by and check them out at the Guelph Humane Society.

New Groomer: Jenny Treutlein

Introducing.........Jenny Treutlein
Royal City Grooming Centre’s newest groomer

Jenny started grooming about 7 years ago, after a career in geology and being a perpetual student failed to provide her with the satisfaction she sought. Her love of animals is something that has been with her since early childhood and one day she realized the calling was too strong.

So, giving up on her PhD she decided to pursue her real passion of working with animals. She took a job as a kennel technician/veterinary assistant with a veterinary clinic in town and she knew she made the right choice. While she worked she would watch the groomer perform her magic on many of the dogs and she discovered she had a new interest. She started as an assistant for the groomer doing bathing, brushing, rough cuts and more. While working there, she took a professional groomer course with Super Pet. After 2 years of hard work and dedication she passed her grooming exams with flying colours and was offered her first professional grooming job with the same groomer she had been an assistant to.

She has been a full time dog groomer for over 7 years now and has loved every minute of it.

She brings with her a love of her job, enthusiasm for what she does and a passion for animal welfare. She couldn’t be more excited to be joining Pam and working for a grooming centre with a superb reputation for quality of work, top-notch patient care and customer satisfaction

Welcome Jenny to our little family.
Her first day is Tuesday August 23rd – book your appointment now.

How much are you really feeding your pet?

When it comes to feeding our pets - what we use to measure the amount we feed can greatly affect our pets' waistline more than we realize.
The feeding guidelines on the bag or the amount suggested by your veterinary staff are based on a standard 8 oz  measuring cup. When you use a coffee mug, yogurt container, lid from another container or some other scooping device you alter the amount of nutrition and calories you are feeding fluffy or fido and affecting their health.
It is so easy to overfeed your pet and unwittingly contribute to excess weight and obesity.
Ask your veterinary team about how much food to feed your particular pet as all diets are not created equally.
